Once you are ready to sit the exam you need to get your Club Coach to contact the BHPA to request your paper.

The Club Coach will need to tell the BHPA your membership number (printed on your BHPA card) which then gets filled on the front page of the exam paper and the exam paper is sent off to the Club Coach.

Once the Club Coach receives the paper, he/she should let you know it has arrived and then set up a venue for the exam.

Best avoid pubs in case there are too many distractions. Most clubs organise evenings for this sort of thing.

The section from your task book that gets filled in and signed to say you have completed the flying tasks.

The paper is now combined for PG and HG pilots.

There is 1hr 45 mins allowed for the exam and the pass mark is 70% in each paper.

There are 4 sections, Airlaw, Meteorology, Flight Theory, and a personal choice bit. Read the bit at the front of the paper as the final section (personal choice) contains a selection of questions which cover all aspects of free flying (PG, HG, Accuracy) and you have to answer a number of questions from this section so you can choose which questions best suit your type of flying.

Once you have done the exam, the club coach will take your completed paper, your cheque and the completed Pilot application form and send the whole lot off to the BHPA.  The BHPA will advise you (and the club coach) of the results through the post.
